The Yelo system range is the automatic test system for telecommunications products. Its capabilities extend from simple telephones, through modems to ISDN - a Yelo system provides a one stop telecommunications test solution.

One card provides simulated phone lines, programmable for various national standards, simulated telephones and all signal sources and measurement. Everything needed in fact to test almost any product which can connect to a standard telephone line.

All types of acoustic testing can be accommodated by a range of customizable test fixtures. Testing ranges from prompting the operator to press buttons to fully automated fixturing which can read and detect displays and LEDs.

Extensive test libraries provide the fullest range of telephone tests which can be quickly modified to individual needs.

Yelo system Phone Tester Key Features

The Yelo system is the ideal solution for testing telephone products in a production environment. It is a PC controlled test system utilising user-friendly software. A range of telecommunications test cards plug into the system to offer a selection of facilities from exchange line simulation through caller display to PCM (0703) tests. A choice of fixturing options can be provided from a simple line socket to full automation including acoustics. The Yelo system is much more than just a telephone tester further cards extend it into a generic board or sub assembly test system to provide in-circuit and functional testing of any product.

Off-the-shelf standard software is available that will test many standard telephone products. By editing a simple configuration file you choose the test parameters from line conditions to time delays. This software includes all standard BABT tests and an extensive range of functional and modem tests. This flexible and comprehensive combination means that many of today’s new complex products can be tested.

The Yelo 7125, with a Telecommunications Test Card and phone/modem software, provides a very low cost entry to automatic telephone testing. Add a fixture with acoustic coupling and the range of tests include all acoustics. Add a solenoid driver card and a fixture with pneumatic pistons and the automation extends to operating all buttons and switches. If other test capabilities are required the Yelo 7125 can be upgraded to a Yelo 7130, which allows a further 11 test cards to be added. The upgrade cost is only the difference between the price of the 7125 and 7130 so there is no penalty for starting with the smaller set and upgrading later.

Mindready (NI) designs and manufactures a wide range of fixture options that can be customised to your product or if you choose, you can supply your own fixture.

The Yelo system is usually used in a production environment and the preferred choice of acoustic coupling to the telephone handset is by rubber seal. This reduces shopfloor background noise. Calibration of the system with a reference phone allows measurements to be taken which correlate to BSI or other standards. If laboratory tests in a quiet room are required the Yelo system can interface to a B & K or similar artificial mouth and ear.

The combination of standard phone test software and the extensive menu based production environment mean that theYelo system can be put to use immediately. With reporting functions available to disk and across a network, a Yelo system can provide up-to-date management information with very little effort.

As well as conventional line based telecoms test, the range of interfaces include PCM and 8DM. If your phone uses custom signalling (e.g. for PBX interface) then Mindready (NI) can design an appropriate interface to simulate this. This capability along with a line multiplexer allows the Yelo system to be used to test small/medium PBX systems.
