Low Cost FixturingMindready (NI) also specialise in automatic fixtures suitable for testing completed products. These fixtures can provide button pressing, operation of switches and use a vision system to pick up LEDs and displays.
The Yelo system can be used with standard fixtures from most suppliers. However Mindready (NI) have recognised the need for low cost fixturing to match the value for money of the Yelo system range. Two types of fixture are available from Mindready (NI), mechanical and pneumatic. Both can be bought as a kit to wire and pin yourself or as a fully completed turnkey fixture. The mechanical fixtures are designed for lower probe counts (we recommend below 100 probes). These are of a simple press down type using a top hat or lid assembly. The probe plate is removable, which means that much of the fixture can be reused when products are replaced which helps reduce the long term cost of fixturing.
The pneumatic fixtures feature rising pins and a top hat to provide downward pressure on the PCB. It is not limited in probe numbers and provide a very high quality, robust fixturing method. The probe plate is once again removable so that the fixture frame can be reused for new products. An additional benefit is that dual height fixturing is standard. This allows in-circuit and functional testing of complex products on a single fixture. The action of the pneumatics means that all probes make contact for in-circuit testing but only a reduced number for functional testing. This removes the effect of extra probes and wires on the board under test. Yelo pneumatic fixtures are priced to be very competitive with conventional vacuum fixtures.Dual Position Fixture
Yelo system fixturing has long included a pneumatic dual height range - ideal for combining in-circuit and functional testing on a single fixture. The Yelo system range includes standard size and extra large fixtures. Now Mindready (NI) have added a dual position fixture allowing continuous testing - one product is tested while the other is loaded/unloaded. The dual height capability is retained. Yelo Test Environment contains specific support for the dual position fixtures. Cassette Fixture System
Yelo Pneumatic fixtures are now available in cassette form. This means that only the central cassette is changed when moving to another product. This saves cost and storage space while changing over takes seconds. The unique detachable top hat means that there is no fiddly re-adjustment needed.
