For applications where a bed of nails is either impractical or volumes are too low to justify it, the Yelo system can be used for edge connector functional testing. In this case the connection to the product under test is usually via a set of cables, often to the product edge connectors. For plug in cards, a very neat plug in fixture can be provided for edge connector testing.
To enhance diagnostic information, a guided probe can be used where the operator is prompted to probe by hand. Mindready (NI) has a large library of common tests needed in this type of testing which include visual pot setting aids.  Yelo 7130 and wiring Home - About Mindready (NI) -
